On Thursday, April 18 at 10:10 a.m. Lee County deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of J40 and Highway 218. Upon arriving at the scene they noticed a vehicle bearing Illinois plates had sustained heavy damage to the front side of the driver compartment and the front end of the vehicle. The plates came back on a 2019 Toyota Camry SUV registered to the driver V. Louise Sladek, 75, of Sugar Grove, Illinois. The other vehicle had heavy front end damage with airbag deployment. That vehicle was a 2019 Nissan Rogue SUV bearing Oklahoma Plates. The driver was identified a Anthony Neal Perrigan, 27, of Columbus, Mississippi. Witness statements were gathered. Sladek was in the right lane and attempted to make an abrupt turn on J40, at which point she began to turn, pulled into oncoming traffic and was hit on the driver side by the Perrigan vehicle traveling southbound. Both vehicles suffered disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Sladek was cited for Unsafe Turn.

How should Keokuk choose their city council members?
Option 1: All city council members are at-large positions (without ward residency requirements). This means city council members can be elected from anywhere by anyone as long as they are within city limits. Option 2: Each city council member comes from a different ward (equal population partition of the city), but the election is at large (anyone from any ward can vote for the council member). Option 3: Each city council member comes from a different ward (equal population partition of the city) voted in by people who live in that ward. There are no at-large positions. Option 4: A specified number of city council members come from different wards voted in by their ward members, and a specified number of at-large council members (citizens elected by citizens regardless of ward residency).
